Royal Emerald hand-mulled, hand-poured shimmer watercolor paint in half pans and quarter pans. This is a deep dark blue color with lots of shimmer. I have included swatches on white cold press watercolor paper and black cold press watercolor paper (both on Legion Stonehenge). A magnet strip has been attached at the bottom of the pan.
Half pans measure as follows: 1.6x1.9(top) 1.5x1.8(bottom) and 1cm height. The pan holds 2 ml but usually includes more because of the extra layer on top.
Quarter pans measure as follows: 1.5x1.1x0.5 cm and hold 1 ml but usually include a bit more when I pour them.
My paints are made with a binder that consists of gum arabic, vegetable glycerin, honey, and clove oil. All of these ingredients work together well to give you paint that won't mold and will work great each time you wet and rewet it. Please store in a cool, dry place and do not close or cover your tins/storage containers until your paint is dried after use. These watercolors are not intended for children without the supervision of an adult. Unless indicated my paints are made with mica pigment.
**ALL MICA I USE IS COSMETIC GRADE, NON-TOXIC PIGMENT**
Bubbles and occasionally a crack or crinkle are part of the natural drying process for watercolor paint. These do not affect the quality of the paint. I do my best to get rid of all bubbles but occasionally some do make it to the drying stage. For this reason, I always pour an extra layer to make up for any bubble pockets. The paints are poured in a 3 to 4-part process to ensure the paint dries properly.
When using the paints, it is important to first place one to two drops of water and then wait at least a minute or two and then swirl the brush in the paint for best results. The water has to activate the paint. If you place water on top and paint immediately you will likely get a very thin and watery result. I pack as much pigment as I can into each pan of paint so some of my colors are hydrophilic. This just means they love water and may take extra to activate.
I do recommend shipping insurance if you are concerned about how the USPS handles packages. I package each order with care and will ensure that it is properly protected but I cannot control what happens to it once it leaves my hands.

Why do some paints have "pillow tops" and some do not?
Some pigments are larger, thicker, and a bit more finicky. Adding a pillow top won't work in these cases. I will always reflect that in pricing the non-pillow topped pans.
Why do some pans cost more than others?
I utilize multiple pigment sources and prices vary. Any that are chrome, interference, metallic, chameleon and any other speciality is often double the pricing (or more) of regular mica pigment. I will always give the best price according to the cost of pigment.

Most of the time I can! If you have a dot sample of something I have made that is not in the store yet it means that I have made the paint but haven't put the listing up yet. When possible, I am more than happy to create a custom order for the paint(s). Just send me a message!
